5231 being discontinued.

Interesting news on Kodak discontinuing a bunch of MP films. This is news to me but maybe not to you guys.

Discontinued MP Film April 2010

I shoot 5222 in my stills cameras and I wonder how long Double-X has now. Any thoughts?

I sometimes wonder how Kodak are making a profit when so much work is going digital. Their stills market has all but disappeared and the film print market is shrinking rapidly as projection goes digital.

Kodak invented the digital sensor and has dug his own grave. They must set slowly but surely completely to digital technologies in the next years to make the most profit. Developing new film stocks will be an expensive hobby... but many, many filmmakers would be very happy, if they continue to develop new film stocks.
