The death of Jesse James

Postby cambryson » Thu Dec 15, 2011 12:31 pm

In the Assassination of Jesse James, when Jesse James is shot and falls off the chair, the lens appears to be shooting through some distorted glass. I am curious what the glass was, and how that decision came to be. I searched the forum for this specific question and couldn't find anything about this exact shot. Sorry if it has already been answered.

That wide angle shot was achieved using one of the 'lenses' I had made for the film. As I have described elsewhere I had two macro lenses adapted to shoot through wide angle front elements taken from other lenses whilst the particular lens used in this case and elsewhere was an older wide angle lens that we simply removed the front element from.
